Jim working on the Larsen Memorial Door
2023 Fall Work Weekend
There were record numbers in attendance for the fall work weekend held on 11/4 & 5/23. We had 19 adults and 5 children!
Tasks undertaken were: honeymoon suite and the bath at the top of the stairs were painted-walls, trim and ceiling ( 2 coats+), the chimney clean outs in the cellar were emptied, the stove and ovens were thoroughly cleaned, all bedspreads and mattress covers were washed, front door was planed so it no longer sticks, at least one drain was snaked, faulty electrical outlet in the Honeymoon Suite was replaced, all knives were sharpened, trophies polished. Jim Larsen proved that he truly has OCD or is it that he graduated from MIT? He worked the entire weekend on the door to the dressing room which was previously a rather small opening but is now full sized! The job was not completed when I left on Sunday around 4PM. So far this has taken him 2 work weekends (spring & fall) it's kind of a nightmare but it gives him something to do and we are grateful for his participation. At 3:30 Sunday afternoon Hans and Geoffrey were still working on the leaky maids quarters toilet. Jim was still working at this door project as well and did not wrap that up until late Sunday evening!
Adults in attendance were: Kat Whelan, Lisa Beneke (Kat Whelan nominee), Jim Larsen, Mark O’Connor, Michael Scire, G Garth, Jacob DeVries (Geoffrey’s nominee), Hans Huber, Krystian Macek, Sarah Macek, Kate Isley, Mark Vaughn (Kate’s husband), Clare Dingwell, Alicia Elliott (Clare’s nominee), Nick Burke, Janet White (Nick’s nominee), Ben Anthony, Julie Anthony and Greg Anthony.
Many missions were accomplished and the Hilton is better for it.
